A very rare antique paper basket. The lion head is made of painted papier mâché mounted on a fallow deer antler base. Austria, ca. 1880. Paper lable of the manufacturer Rudolf Brix on the wooden base. An identical basked is illustrated on a contemporary photo of hunting castle platte in Germany (Jagdschloss Platte), here as wild boar head. see Sabine Spindler, Geweihmoebel 1825 - 1925 on page 10.
