Vintage Bavarian Traditional Costume Jewelry Charivari with Hunting Pendants
Item e7226

A Bavarian Charivari from the middle of the 20th century. A beautiful piece of historical Bavarian folk art jewelry, a real collector's item. A charivari is a traditional piece of Bavarian costume jewelry. It is worn by men on the bib of their traditional leather pants. The charivari was used as jewelry or as a talisman for a successful hunt and is a valuable status symbol for the wearer. This example is quite heavy and robust and features ten rare pieces of jewelry: a silver ibex, a chamois horn, a stag's teeth (also called Grandel or Gradln), a topaz pendant, a deer horn pendant, a wild boar's tooth, a hare's paw, a rock crystal pendant, a deer claw and silver boar's head.
