A 'Vetro Soffiato' glass vase in red and transparent glass with slightly iridised surface, designed by Vittorio Zecchin in 1920 and manufactured by Venini Murano Venice ca. 1950. Acid etched signature 'venini murano ITALIA' on the base. Venini model number 1465. Very good condition with slight inside deposit.

Vittorio Zecchin (1878 - 1947) was a native of Murano and the son of a glass technician. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 1901, but initially decided against working as an artist. In 1908, he joined the Ca' Pessaro group, which was made up of a number of young Venetian artists. Together with the painter Teodoro Wolf Ferrari, he presented some glasses made by Barovier at the XI Venice Biennale in 1914. From 1921 to 1925, he was the artistic director of the company Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & C., for which he created classic pieces in clear glass and delicate colors. These vases, inspired by the Venetian painting style of the 16th century, were the first examples of modern Murano glasswork. Vittorio Zecchin also worked for Ferro-Toso, A.Ve.M., Salir, Barovier, Seguso Ferro and Fratelli Toso.
