Vintage Oriente Art Glass Bowl by Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso
Item e7857

A Murano art glass bowl of the 'Oriente' series designed by Dino Martens and manufactured by Vetreria Aureliano Toso in the 1950s. The Oriente series was first presented at the Venice Biennale in 1952. Fused glass pieces in multiple colors and aveturine are melted together and formed free. Aureliano Toso model number 5814.

Coming from a family of Murano glassmakers, Aureliano Toso founded his own company in 1938. The collaboration with the painter and artist Dino Martens already showed the first successes at the XXIII Biennale di Venezia. Over the years, more daring creations followed, which, as with Pop Art, were clearly far ahead of their time. Later, the influence of artists like Gino Poli and Enrico Potz can be seen in the creations. The production ended in 1965.
