A large antique meermaid lusterweibchen with a hand carved and painted statue of a Medieval lady with fish tail. Mounted on a large pair of deer trophys with hand forged iron suspension and 4 handforged candle spouts. Blazon with heraldig crest. Executed in Germany circa 1900.
The archetype of this lusterweibchen is the world famous "Beauty of Ulm", carved by Michel Erhart circa 1475. Erhart is one of the most famous woodcarvers of the Gothic period like Syrlin, Riemenschneider and Duerer.
