A Finnish art glass vase designed by Gunnel Nyman and manufactured by Nuutajarvi Notsjo in the late 1940s. Heavy clear glass decorated with regular air bubbles. Signed with acid etched signature - almost invisible. An authentic classical example of Scandinavian art glass.
Gunnel Nymann (1909 – 1948) was a Finnish glass and metal artist who is seen as one of the founders of modern Finnish glass design. Nyman started the design of bubbled glass objects in the early 1930s. Her early designs use bubbles as an element contained in the glass mass. Here famous designs from the late 1940s often had small bubbles which form a veil on the outer or inner surface of the objects. Gunnel Nymann worked for Nuutajarvi, Riihimaeki and Iittala.
