One of the early 20th century designs of Zecchin for Cappellin and Venini which motivated the muranese glass companies to set out for new shores. Good condition with some surface scratches. The last picture shows it together with a mid size version with 14.29' inches as comparison of the sizes.
Vittorio Zecchin (1878 - 1947) was a native Muranese and son of a glasswork technician. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Together with the painter Teodoro Wolf Ferrari he presented at the XI. Venice Biennale some glasses made by Barovier in 1914. From 1921 to 1925 he was artistic director at Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & C., for which he created classic pieces in clear glass and delicate colors. Inspired by the Venetian pictorial style of 16th-century, these vases were the first examples of modern Murano glasswork. Vittorio Zecchin also worked for Ferro-Toso, A.Ve.M., Salir, Barovier, Seguso Ferro and Fratelli Toso.
