A heavy art glass vasel of the Expo series designed by Olle Alberius for Orrefors, Sweden in 1973. Orange glass with a very thick crystal clear glass overlay internaly decorated with a black spiral. Signed with: 'Orrefors Expo A 247 73 Olle Alberius'. Weight 6,6 kilos (14 lb). A rare piece of Midcentury Modern Scandinavian glass design.

Olle Alberius (1926 - 1993) was a Swedish glass designer and ceramicist. He was trained in ceramics at the Stockholm College of Art, Crafts and Design from 1952 till 1956 and later one of the leading designers for Rorstrand. From 1971, Alberius was working for Orrefors, where he created classic designs, but also worked in Ariel-and Graal techniques. He was among the Orrefors artists who perfected the Ariel glassblowing technique. Alberius works are represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design in Stockholm, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Corning Museum of Glass.
