A heavy vase of the Ariel Gondoliere series designed by Edvin Oehrstroem for Orrefors Sweden in 1946. Clear glass internally decorated in Ariel technique in blue and amber and overlayed with clear glass. This example dates to the 1980s. Signed with: 'Orrefors 957813 Edvin Oehrstroem' and 'Graal Gallery 117-87'. An authentic piece of Midcentury Modern Scandinavian glass design.

Edvin Oehrstroem (1906-1994) was a Swedish sculptor and glass artist. From 1936 Oehstroem worked as independent sculptor and glass artist. At the beginning of his career he worked with the materials granite, terracotta and bronze. Later he specialized in glass and steel. He worked with Orrefors (1936 till 1957) and Lindshammer. At Orrefors he developed the 'Ariel technicque' together with Vicke Lindstrand and Gustav Bergkvist.
