Magnificent antique painting in oil on canvas. Painted by K. Nufer Munich in the late 19th century. The painting shows an atmospheric scene in Venice at night. It is a copy of the painting “Venice by Moonlight” by Eduard Schleich the Elder (1812-1874) from around 1861. The original by Eduard Schleich is on display in the Pinakothek in Munich. Schleich visited Italy a number of times. This nocturnal view of a canal does not depict a specific location, but is an imaginary scene put together from a variety of Venetian motifs. The painting is framed in a golden wooden frame and is in very good condition.
