A charming and narrative Naive Art (Art Naïf) composition by Marion de Leporini Rehbock, dating to circa 1960s/1970s, depicting a historic coastal town square in Brazil. The scene unfolds along a sloping street or plaza leading toward a sandy beach and a calm turquoise sea on the upper left horizon. Dominating the right foreground is a bright turquoise-blue colonial church next to a series of ochre and green facades. Numerous stylized figures dressed primarily in white stroll through the plaza, which features a central white stone cross fountain, small green trees, and a horse-drawn cart in the lower right. Vertically signed 'MARION DE LEPORINI REHBOCK' along the lower left corner. Presented in a matching rustic dark wooden frame.

Marion de Leporini Rehbock (born 1908 or 1912 in Vienna, Austria) was a highly unique Twentieth-Century artist whose life and career bridged European theater and South American folk painting. Originally a theater actress in Austria, she later married German expat Joachim Rehbock and relocated to São Paulo, Brazil, during the late 1930s. It was during her extended years in South America that she became deeply enamored by the vibrant landscapes and rich cultural folklore of Brazil, which ultimately inspired her extensive transition into painting. Her artistic output is celebrated for its distinctive Naive Art (Art Naïf) style—marked by simplified, flat dimensions, vivid color choices, and enchanting, narrative scenes documenting Brazilian life and landscapes.
