Antique Lithography Print Hunting Welding Dog 19th Century
Item e7578

A lovely lithography print depicting a hunting dog. This colorful print was created in the late 19th century. The template for this print is a famous painting by Carl Friedrich Deiker with the name "High-running German hound dog". The artwork is framed behind glass in a wooden carved frame.

Litography is based on an invention by Alois Senefelder from 1798. In the 19th century, it was the printing process that enabled the industrial production of printed matter at low prices. In lithography, the image to be printed is carved upside down into a stone plate (usually limestone) which then serves as the printing plate.
