Antique Lithography Print depicting a Bear Hunt 19th Century
Item e7576

An antique lithograph depicting a bear hunt. A colorful print from the middle of the 19th century. The artwork is framed behind glass in a carved wooden frame.

Litography is based on an invention by Alois Senefelder from 1798. In the 19th century, it was the printing process that enabled the industrial production of printed matter at low prices. In lithography, the image to be printed is carved upside down into a stone plate (usually limestone) which then serves as the printing plate.
