A colorful cubist composition painted in 1964, showing a dynamic and highly stylized abstract scene. Dominating the centerpiece of the composition is a rich, deep cobalt blue form, seamlessly interwoven with a dense arrangement of sharp geometric structures, intersecting diagonals, and angular shards. The scene is rendered with analytical, cubist-inspired techniques that deconstruct spatial forms into simplified vertical, triangular, and rectangular planes. Signed 'V Koutsky' (?) and dated '64' in the lower left corner. Presented in a sleek, minimalist white gallery frame.
Vaclav Kouzki (1907–1980) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU) in Prague from 1922 to 1929 under Professors Jakub Obrovský and Josef Loukota. He later undertook a study trip to Paris. Beginning in 1943, he was a member of the renowned Czech artists’ association Spolek výtvarných umělců Mánes. In his work, he initially devoted himself primarily to figurative painting and portraits; later, he focused increasingly on abstract motifs and atmospheric landscape painting, often inspired by his native South Bohemia as well as cityscapes.
