Set of Six Antique Roe Deer Trophies, Germany ca.1890s/1900s
Item e8137

A great collection of six antique roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) antler trophies from the turn of the 20th century, originating from Germany. One of them has abnorm antlers. Each piece is mounted on an intricately carved wooden plaque adorned with oak leaves and acorns, reflecting a classic regional hunting tradition.

Trophies are mementos from the hunted game, which are kept by the huntsmen as a souvenir or decorative item. For many centuries it was a tradition to collect trophies. Nowadays exactly these are becoming more and more popular as decorative highlights in hunting lodges.
