Antique Copper Engraving Print with Bavarian Scene ca. 1900
Item e7574

A lovely copperplate engraving print depicting a folksy Bavarian scenery in a mountain hut. Two hunters say goodbye to a young farmer's wife. The template for this print is a painting by Franz Defregger with the title "Abschied der Jaeger" (farwell of the hunters). The artwork is framed behind glass in a wooden carved frame.

In copperplate engraving, the image to be printed is engraved into a copper plate. The resulting lines then absorb the ink, which is printed onto the paper using a roller press. Copperplate engraving was often used in the 19th century to reproduce famous paintings.
