Oil Painting by Alexander Michael - Fraueninsel, Jetty, 1994
Item e8104

This 1994 painting depicts a quiet jetty on Fraueninsel, Lake Chiemsee Bavaria, capturing a calm and summery moment of island life. At the center of the composition is a simple wooden jetty extending from the shoreline into the gently shimmering water, guiding the viewer’s eye naturally into the depth of the scene. To the left of the jetty, a small rowing boat rests in the shallow water, loosely moored and angled slightly toward the viewer. In the background, the lake opens wide and tranquil, dotted with a few distant boats and a low, green shoreline along the horizon. Characteristic of Michael’s style, the painting combines a recognizable motif with a free, impressionistic approach to color and form. The painting is signed and dated 'AM 94' in the lower left corner. It is presented in a dark-stained wooden frame.

Alexander Michael (1939-2024) was a German landscape, still life and architectural painter. His paintings can be stylistically assigned to Impressionism or a late Impressionist style. His loose painting style, applied with a sure hand, creates a lively and atmospheric effect with visible brushstrokes and bright colors. The light conditions, color tones and the artist's subjective perception are characteristic of his works.
