Five Tiny Terracotta Garden Gnomes, Germany ca. 1950s
Item e7225

A whimsy set of five tiny garden gnomes made in Germany ca. 1950s probably by Heissner. They are made of terracotta and hand-painted with bright colors. Good used vintage condition with signs of use in keeping with age. Some chips to paint, rubbed areas and partly repainted. Please see pictures.

Traditionally, the garden figures represented male gnomes wearing red pointed caps and carrying garden tools, typically between one and two feet tall and used in Europe as decoration for bourgeois gardens.
