Black Forest Fallow Deer Trophy from Salem - Spain 1979

A great abnormal Black Forest fallow deer (Dama dama) trophy from the palace of Salem in South Germany. It was shot in Spain by a member of the lordly family of Baden in 1979. The handwritten inscriptions on the skull are with, place of the hunt, family crest and date 1979. It is mounted on a wooden plaque with a dark green finish. The tropy is in very good condition.

Trophies are mementos from the hunted game, which are kept by the huntsmen as a souvenir or decorative item. For many centuries it was a tradition to collect trophies. Nowadays exactly these are becoming more and more popular as decorative highlights in hunting lodges.
