Antique Springbok Trophy on Wooden Carved Plaque, 1910
Item e8224

A springbok skull with horns (Antidorcas marsupialis), mounted on a dark brown wooden plaque with carved decorations. On the front of the plaque is a handwritten inscription noting the date and location of the hunt, which took place in the Saha region near Sidi-Okba—now in Algeria. The skull’s natural shape and the elegant, curved horns ensure an impressive and authentic presentation of this hunting trophy.

Trophies are mementos from the hunted game, which are kept by the huntsmen as a souvenir or decorative item. For many centuries it was a tradition to collect trophies. Today, such traditional hunting trophies are collectible items and are often used as rustic or alpine-style décor.
