Vintage Bavarian Traditional Costume Jewelry Charivari with Hunting Pendants
Item e7794

A Bavarian Charivari from the middle of the 20th century. A beautiful piece of historical Bavarian folk art jewelry, a real collector's item. A charivari is a traditional piece of Bavarian costume jewelry. It is worn by men on the bib of their traditional leather pants. The charivari was used as jewelry or as a talisman for a successful hunt and is a valuable status symbol for the wearer. This example is quite heavy and robust and features thirteen rare pieces of jewelry: two fox teeth, a rock crystal, a silver pretzel, a small silver hammer, a silver Edelweiss, a silver charm of three acorns and a leaf, 'Patrona Bavariae' design coin, two stunted horns ("Kümmerer"), a horn pendant, a wild boar tooth and a piece of hare fur.
