Vintage wooden shooting plaque featuring a hand‑painted forest scene with several deer. A stag with prominent antlers stands in the center among trees, while additional deer appear in the background. The border is decorated with painted oak leaves, and numerous bullet marks are visible in the middle. Gold lettering indicates that the plaque commemorates the 1964 'Pokalschiessen' of the Schuetzengilde Taellingen, with the best shot recorded by Hans Seiberr.
The target of honor or king's target is a traditional award in shooting competitions. The tradition is predominantly widespread in southern Germany, Austria and Lower Saxony. Honorary targets are donated and shot in honor of a personality, on the occasion of a birthday, a wedding or a prize shooting competition. They were often artistically designed and hand-painted, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. With the advent of printing technology, targets were also created using artistic prints.
