Antique Black Forest Clock Set with Carved Hunting Motifs, ca. 1900
Item e7804

This antique Black Forest clock set, dated around 1900, includes a carved mantel clock and two matching side pieces with hunting motifs. The clock features a wooden case with a fox atop oak leaves and branches, framed by Roman numerals. The side pieces echo this design, each showing a fox among foliage with glass inserts. The detailed wildlife scene and craftsmanship reflect traditional Black Forest artistry. These pieces are notable collector’s items for their period carving and nature-themed design. Soberly considered mantel clocks are small pendulum clocks with feet. The exposed position on the protruding part of the chimney makes it an exquisite room decoration. In order to create an eye-catcher for the central place in the living area, all the craftsmanship of the wood artist is required. The original clockwork has been replaced by a modern battey operated one.
