Large Terracotta Garden Gnome with Toadstool, Germany ca. 1920s
Item e7219

A large garden gnome from Germany, ca. 1920s. The gnome has a pipe and an axe in his hands and is standing next to a toadstool. Good used vintage condition with signs of wear commensurate with age. Some rubbed areas and partially painted over. Overall with great original patina. Please see pictures.

Traditionally, the garden figures represented male gnomes wearing red pointed caps and carrying garden tools, typically between one and two feet tall and used in Europe as decoration for bourgeois gardens.
