Antique Carved Wood Lusterweibchen of a Medieval Lady ca. 1500
item e5974
A wooden handcarved and painted statue of a Medieval lady fixed on a pair of deer antlers. Executed ca. 1500 as statue of a saint and changed to a lusterweibchen in the second half of the 16. century. The modification was possibly caused by the religious reformation in the 16. century. The lady holds a wooden carved dove in her left hand. The emblem which was added during the modification shows a rising horse. A filigree handforged iron suspension and 4 handforged iron candle holders complete the piece. Rests of the original paint, repainted in the 19th century. The right arm is restored and repainted later.
