Item e6568
A vintage art glass bowl designed by Kaj Frank for Nuutarjaervi Notsjo in the 1960s. Clear and white overlayed glass, cutted and polished rim. Signed on the base 'K. Frank, Nuutarjaervi Notsjo -64'.
Kaj Frank (1911 - 1989) is often referred to as 'the conscience of Finnish design'. As an interior designer, his inner debate turned for and against functionalism and the Finnish expression of art and design. His military service in World War II shaped his design with a reduction to the essentials. Kaj Frank worked for Arabia, Nuutajaervi and Iittala. He was awarded several times at the Milan Trinnals in the 1950s.
