Antique Mantel Clock under Glass Dome, ca. 1870
Item e7763

This is a finely crafted mantel clock from around 1850–1880, housed under a rounded glass dome on a textured base resembling tree bark. The clock features a beautifully carved pedestal with a stag relief made from bone, reflecting popular hunting motifs of the 19th century. Above the base are decorative floral elements, also in bone. The enameled clock face has Roman numerals and is framed with detailed ornamentation. Notably, it includes a "Vorderzappler" (front pendulum figure), a charming mechanical detail that moves with the clock’s rhythm — a feature typical of clocks from the Biedermeier or early Victorian period.
